SPALDING, John Keith (1895-1970)
John Keith Spalding was born on 4 August 1895, the son of the Reverend John James Spalding and Agnes Margaret nee Moore
He was educated at Ararat Grammar School, and then at Geelong College where he was enrolled in February 1912 as a day student. He left in December 1913. His address at entry was Ararat, Victoria.
After leaving College he studied at the Dental College, Melbourne University. He had completed 2nd year Dentistry when, during World War I, he enlisted (No 9030) in the AIF on 15 July 1915. He embarked on 28 January 1916 on HMAT A32 Themistocles as a Private in the 6th Field Ambulance with the Australian Army Medical Corps (AAMC), and was then posted to 3rd Australian Auxiliary Hospital on 19 March 1917.
He embarked for return to Australia on 6 June 1918, and was demobilised from the AIF on 18 September 1918.
His brother, James Stanley Spalding (1890-1962), was also educated at Geelong College.
