SUTHERLAND, George Stuart (1878-1932)
George Sutherland was born on 11 January 1878, a son of Kenneth Sutherland and Georgina nee Stuart.
He entered Geelong College as a day student in 1891. His address at the time was Town Hall, Newtown, Geelong. At College he was a member of the 1st Football XVIII in 1892 and 1893 and the 1st Cricket XI in 1894.
During World War I, he enlisted (No. 740) in 2 Battalion, Australian Commonwealth Horse (Victoria).
His brothers, Kenneth John Sutherland, Alexander Charles Sutherland (1869-1941), and Arthur Benjamin Sutherland (1880-1962), were also educated at Geelong College.
