WAGER, John McLean Dennis (1942-2021)

John Wager was born in 1942 to John F and Isobel V Wager of Lismore, Victoria. In 1956 he was enrolled as a boarder at Geelong College commencing Form IA. John was involved in many sports from football, rowing to athletics. In 1959 he won an interschool cross country competition against Geelong Grammar, placing 1st. Seated 3rd, the 2nd VIII also won a rowing final against Geelong Grammar and Scotch College in 1958. That year he received both McArthur House Rowing Colours and Athletics Colours.

John married Janet and they have two children.

John passed away 8 March 2021, aged 78 years. John was a keen sailor, with many friends on the 'Panache'. He will be remembered as a gentle giant, who was friendly, calm and considered.
