CHAPMAN, Timothy Bain (1953-2023)

Tim was born at Ocean Island (now Banaba) to Edgar and Jeane. His early life was spent on the island, before the family moved to Melbourne. His older brothers boarded at the College, Colin (OGC 1961) and Geoffrey (OGC 1964) and Tim soon joined them. Tim boarded at the College from 1966 to 1971. At school Tim was part of Warrinn House. During his time here, Tim was part of the swimming team, football team and rowing crew. In 1971 he received House rowing colour.

Following school, older brother Colin says that Tim’s next step was inspired by his friends at boarding, many of whom came from farming families. Tim attended Dookie College then worked as a farmhand and jackaroo. After obtaining his heavy rigid driving licence, he then pivoted truck driving, first working with Nightingale Chemicals as storeman and driver. For the next 40 years Tim worked as a bus driver, delivering his passengers safely to their chosen destination.

Tim passed away 17 November 2023, survived by his three daughters.
