TRIPOLINO, Robert

Robert Tripolino (OGC 2008) is an acclaimed Australian actor, composer, and producer whose career spans international stages and original creative works. Known for his powerful performances and musical innovation, Tripolino has made a significant mark in the performing arts both in Australia and abroad.

Tripolino made his West End debut playing Marius in Cameron Mackintosh’s award-winning production of Les Misérables, a role that showcased his vocal and dramatic range. He has also starred as Jesus in Jesus Christ Superstar at the London Barbican and in the Australian production in Perth, and as The Man in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Whistle Down the Wind. His portrayal of Roger in RENT at the Sydney Opera House further cemented his reputation as a leading musical theatre performer.

In addition to acting, Tripolino has toured nationally with Disney’s Aladdin, playing Omar, and collaborated with Stephen Schwartz in the UK premiere of RAGS in Manchester. As a composer and writer, he created Dreamsong, which premiered at the Victorian College of the Arts and featured at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. His other works include Guilty PleasuresDeath Suits You, and numerous short pieces with his production company, Meerkat.

Tripolino is also a producer, having staged his solo concert Midnight Somewhere in London and led community-driven projects such as House of Dreams at the Palais Geelong, a tribute to the theatre’s rich cultural history. He is currently working with historians to document the Palais’ legacy through oral histories.

At The Geelong College, where he studied from 1995 to 2008, Tripolino was actively involved in school productions and returned in 2011 to perform during the College’s 150th anniversary celebrations. His early experiences at the College helped nurture the creativity and passion that define his artistic career.

Robert was inducted into the OGCA Notables Gallery in 2025.
