ADAMS, Robert (c1813-1862)Robert Adams of Skipton was among the
founders of Geelong College, as a member of the Corresponding Committee which undertook to promote the College to prospective students in 1861.
Robert Adams was married to Jane Anderson (1814-1889) on 5 August 1844 at Dr Alexander Thomson's residence by Rev. Andrew Love.
He died at his home 'St Enochs', Skipton on 14 October 1862, aged 49 years. A prominent memorial marks his burial at the Skipton Cemetery. His wife, Jane died at her residence 'Tantallan', Fitzroy St, St Kilda, aged 75 years.
His sons, John Dalrymple Adams (1845- );
William Anderson Adams (1846-1930); Robert Hopkins Adams (1850-1937); Thomas Hill Adans (c1854-1866), and Harry Adams (1858-1926) were all educated at Geelong College.
