BARNFATHER, Thomas Stanley (1888-1955)
Company Secretary and Director of Godfrey Hirst & Co he was enrolled at Geelong College in 1902.
Pegasus in 1955 reported: 'When at school he passed the Matriculation examination and played in the 1st Football XVIII in 1905. He joined the firm of Godfrey Hirst and Co., to become later secretary and a director. He was prominent in Masonic circles, being a member of Grand Lodge, and was widely interested in sport, especially golf and rowing. For some years he was judge for the Head of the River. His only son, Eliot, served as Flight-Lieutenant in the RAAF and was killed in action in 1942.'
He was the son of Andrew Barnfather (1844-1959) and Maria nee Shields (1853-1959). and married Ruby Alice nee Beatty (1888-1959) in 1914. He died at Newtown on 7 September, 1955.
His brothers, Charles John Barnfather (1872-1906), Andrew Ernest Ralph Barnfather (1891-1916), and son, Eliot Ralph Barnfather (1915-1942), were also students at College. His daughter, Pauline Rai Barnfather (1917-2014) was a College Staff member for ten years.
