BAYLY, Stanislaus Emerson (1911-2000)
In 2002, Ad Astra reported:
Stanislaus Emerson Bayly 'accountant, entered the Preparatory School in its first year of operation, 1921 and left in December 1923, having completed Upper IV, which is probably equivalent to our current Year 9. Upon leaving school, ‘Stan’ Bayly qualified as an Accountant and then practised in Sydney. He died in Turramurra in December 2000 and was survived by his wife, Lilian. His generous bequest of almost $200,000 helped the Foundation's capital fund to grow, taking it closer to its ultimate goal of developing a solid financial base to ensure the College's financial independence.'
Stanislaus was born at Ballarat on 7 August 1911, the son of Alfred Emerson Bayly and Ethel nee Corbet. He was enrolled by his guardian, C Cole, as a day student at Geelong College on 21 September 1921, leaving in December 1923. His address at entry was 'Turramurra House'. He had previously attended Queen's College, St Kilda.
He married Lillian Linton Cruthers in 1941.
