BLACK, Robert Nicol (1888- 1955)
Robert Black was born on 28 May 1888, the son of Robert Andrew Black and Elizabeth Langdon nee Pascall. His address at enrolment was 'Mokanger' near Cavendish, Victoria. In 1904, he was enrolled by R A Black as a boarder at the Geelong College and that same year gained the following academic prize.

In 1914, he married Margaret May Rountree, the daughter of James Hughes Roundtree and Margaret Rountree, of Hamilton. His war service records for World War I are held with the National Archives, Canberra.
His death notice in Pegasus is as follows: 'Robert Nicol Black, of Baulkham Hills, NSW, a Life Member of the OGCA. He died on May 14 (1955). He came to the College in 1904. Formerly manager of branches of the National Bank in NSW and Victoria, he had since retirement conducted a post office and newsagency at Baulkham Hills, NSW.'
His son, Robert Hughes Black (1917-1988) served in World War II as a captain with the Australian Army Medical Corps (AAMC). He later became a distinguished Professor of tropical medicine.
