BOURCHIER, Norman Gerald (1898-1969)
Norman Gerald Bouchier was born on 23 March 1898 in Geelong, the only child of Gideon Bourchier and Anna Maria nee Tulloch, of 'Boomagong', Yarroweyah.
On 2 June 1913 he was enrolled as a day student in Form VA at Geelong College remaining at the School as a boarder until December 1914 when he left from Form VA. He had previously attended Koonoomoo State School.
During World War I, he enlisted (No 3821) as a Private on 30 May 1917, and embarked on HMAT Commonwealth for Egypt on 2 November with the 4th Light Horse (30th Reinforcement Group). His attestation papers state that he served 1 year in the Cadets before World War I.He returned to Australia, embarking 15 June 1919.
He also served in World War II
He died on 2 March 1969.
His brothers, Cyril Hector Bourchier (1901-1973) and Eric Lawrence Bouchier (1904-1985) were also educated at Geelong College.
His cousin, Lieutenant Colonel Murray William James Bourchier commanded the Regiment in Sinai-Palestine, and was invested with the Companion of St Michael and St George for his part in the advance from Sasa to Damascus, and DSO at Beersheba on 31 October 1917.
