BRUMLEY, Edwin John (1896-1990)


Edwin Brumley was born on 24 January 1896, the son of Daniel Wells Brumley and Ellen Guelinda nee Whitson. He attended Mortlake State School and then enrolled as a boarder at Geelong College from 12 February 1912 to December 1913.

He was a Cadet at Warrnambool.

He enlisted in the AIF on 12 February 1916 and was a Corporal in 38 Battalion D Company citing his address as 'Nadjook', Mortlake. During training camp he became ill and spent nine weeks in Bendigo Hospital, suffering from cerebro-spinal meningitis and and a month later from measles. He was discharged from the army on 10 October 1916.

His brother, Arthur Leslie Brumley (1900-1991) was also educated at Geelong College.
