BUTT, Claude Rylah (1893-1987


Claude Butt was born on 13 December 1893, the son of James White Butt and Laura Theresa nee Rylah. Claude was enrolled as a day student at Geelong College from 1908 to 1909. His mother gave her address as 31 Gertrude St, Geelong West.

He enlisted during World War I and became acting Corporal in the AIF in K Company, 2nd Depot Battalion on 16 July 1915, but was discharged medically unfit due to abdominal problems, on 20 September 1915.


His Brother, Norman James Butt (1891-1914), was also educated at Geelong College.
