CALHOUN, John Leadmund (1918-2011)

John Leadmund Calhoun, dentist, attended Donald Higher Elementary School before attendance at the College as a boarder from 1933 to 1937. He played in both the 1st Football XVIII and the 1st Cricket XI from 1936 to 1937 as well as becoming captain of the 1937 Athletics Team. He was both the Singles and Doubles Tennis Champion in 1937. In 1937, he became a School Prefect.

He graduated with BDSci in late 1944 from Melbourne University, enlisted in the AIF on 8 January 1945 and served as a Captain with the 87th Dental Unit in Singapore. He was discharged from the army on 19 February 1947.


He died 8 February 2011, age 92, at Pambula Hospital.
