CALVERT, Colin Murray (1894-1974)


Colin Murray Calvert was born at Gnarwyn Estate, Colac, the son of Leonard Murray Calvert and Elizabeth nee Murray, on 26 March 1894.

He was educated at Malvern College, England, then as a boarder at Geelong College from 10 April 1910 to December 1913. His address at enrolment was 'Gnarwyn', Ondit. He was a member of both the 1st Football XVIII and the 1st Cricket XI in 1912 and 1913, the 1st Rowing VIII in 1912, and the Athletics Team in 1913.

In 1916 during World War I, he embarked for England at his own expense, and served as a Lieutenant attached to the Royal Army Service Corps (Motor Transport Section), British Expeditionary Force until the Armistice.

His brother, Leonard Murray Calvert (1888-1970), also attended College.
