CAMERON, John Gordon (1926-2019)

John Gordon Cameron, born 20 April 1926 was enrolled as a boarder at The Geelong College from 9 February 1937. He had earlier attended Woodburn Creek SS and his parents Neil Wilson and Katherine Gordon Cameron lived at “Glenspean,” both near Meredith.

Before leaving in 1943, John was part of the air training corps. On completing his studies he enlisted in the RAAF, in May 1944. He served as LAC JG Cameron at 1 Operational Training Unit, Nhill. And was discharged 30 July 1945.

A grazier, John worked on his parents farm before settling at “Camberley”, Mount Mercer. He married Beverley Pearson in 1952 and they had four children. He invented, engineered and built many agricultural implements during his farming career, leading the evolution of haymaking at “Glenspean” and “Camberley.”

Late of Sorrento, Victoria he passed away aged 93 on 7 September 2019.
