Geelong College Challenge

The Geelong College Challenge first began in 1994. It is an inter-school event hosted at the Geelong College Preparatory School in which four Year 6 students (2 male and 2 Female) from up to 15 participating primary schools are invited to a weekend of physical and intellectual challenges.
The Challenges include:
- An Art Challenge alternating each year, with a Music Challenge.
- Maths Challenge.
- Physical Challenge.
- Information Technology Challenge.
- Drama Challenge.
- Technology Challenge.
- A Major Problem which usually uses something built in the Technology Challenge.
In 2003, for example these included a short story, and challenges in Art, Mathematics, Technology, Drama, and Physical Challenges. The Geelong College Challenge was suggested by Mark Torpey following an exchange vist to England in 1992 and pioneered by Michael Panckridge from 1994 until 2002 after which Stuart McCallum took on the role of organising co-ordinator until 2009 when Mark Torpey took over.
