'Thomas Evans Doughton, who died on October 6 (1947) at a private hospital at Kew, Victoria, was at the College up to 1905 when he left after completing the matriculation examination. He was a member of the first cricket and football teams for three years and is particularly remembered as a brilliant centre-forward. He became managing director of the Melbourne firm of Thomas Evans Pty. Ltd., and was prominent in golfing circles. His continued interest in the College was demonstrated by several gifts of flags.

His brothers, David John Doughton (1891-1972) and George Arthur Doughton (1893-1944) were also educated at Geelong College.
