EDWIN ‘TEDDY’ RANKIN MEMORIAL GATES

EDWIN ‘TEDDY’ RANKIN MEMORIAL GATES

These wrought iron gates at the Main Talbot St entrance to the Senior School campus were erected in memory of Edwin ‘Teddy’ Rankin (1872-1944), head groundsman from about 1905 to 1941 and gardener in the Principal’s Private Garden from 1941.

The gates were originally donated and installed by the Old Collegians’ Association on Sports Day, 10 October 1953 and located at the corner of Aphrasia St and Talbot St on the north-eastern corner of the Senior School. The gates were moved in 1982 to their present position in Talbot St.
