EGGLETON, Peter (1927-2003)

Peter Eggleton, painter and water colourist, was commissioned by the College and the Albert Bell Club in 1991 to create a watercolour depiction of the ‘new’ boatshed. A limited edition of 400 prints was produced for sale at a price of $110 each or $140 framed to assist fundraising for construction of the new boatshed. Peter was born in Surrey, England developing an interest in art at Sutton Grammar School and emigrated to Australia in 1949 with his parents, eventually settling at Barwon Heads. His first solo exhibition was in 1978 at Earl Gallery and since then he has solo exhibited at galleries in Geelong and Melbourne. The Geelong Art Society acknowledged him as Artist of the Year in 1988 and he has won many prizes for his watercolour work. He is a life member of the Geelong Art Society, member of the Victorian Artists Society and the Old Watercolour Society Club. His works are held in private and corporate collections throughout Australia and overseas.
