EGG COLLECTING
The collection of bird's eggs and identification was a popular hobby in the early 1900s and noted in Pegasus in April 1909. The Annual Report of 1900 noted that 'R B Gillespie and E A McFarland have had control of the College Egg Collection which contains a large number of specimens, many of them very rare ones.' In 1902, Miss Ethel Guthrie presented the School with a 'handsome cedar case containing a large and rare collection of eggs' and D E Stodart also presented his 'splendid collection, well classified and arranged on shelves in a beautiful cabinet' .
None of these collections are now held by the School and fortunately the practice has faded out.
