FLETT, James Paterson (1887-1969)


James Paterson Flett, according to the Geelong College enrolment register, was born on 22 September 1887. He was the son of Dr William Simpson Flett and Mrs Bruce Pole nee Paterson.

James was enrolled at Geelong College in 1903. His address then was Auburn Road, Auburn. In 1903, he was awarded 2nd prize in Latin in the Upper 4th Class.

He was a farmer when he enlisted (No 2195) during World War I in the AIF on 27 October 1916, embarking for England on 6 December 1916 on HMAT A67 Orsova as a Trooper with 13th Light Horse Reinforcements, and training at Kandahar Barracks. He transferred to the No 1 Mobile Veterinary Section when he embarked for France on 23 September 1917, and was promoted T/Corporal on 20 January 1919. He returned to Australia on HMT Konig Friedrich August, embarking on 20 June 1919.

James Flett died on 24 July 1969.
