FREEMAN, Leslie James (1896-1978)


Leslie James Freeman (Foreman) was born on the 19 April 1896, the son of William Edwin Foreman and Mary Emma nee Stanbrook.

He was educated at Brighton Grammar School, Geelong College and Ormond College, The University of Melbourne, where he completed 2nd year Medicine. He was enrolled as Leslie James Freeman at Geelong College on 17 February 1913 with his address as Charlton, Victoria. He left in December 1915.

During World War I, he enlisted (No 15164) in the AIF as a Driver in the Motor Transport Section, on 19 May 1917, and embarked as a General Reinforcement, Mechanised Transport on HMAT A60 Aeneas on 30 October 1917, being posted to Headquarters Motor Transport Service at Tidworth in February 1918, and later for special duty to Assistant Quartermaster General. He returned to Australia on 10 June 1919.

Leslie Freeman (Foreman) died in 1978.
