HALLEBONE, Jeffrey (1929- )

HALLEBONE, Jeffrey (1929- )

State and Sheffield Shield cricketer, Jeff Hallebone was readily acknowledged as one of Geelong College's best cricketers. He played in both the Cricket and Football 1st Teams in 1946 and 1947.

Born at East Coburg on 3 August 1929 he first went to Geelong High School before his parents, Edward Stephen Hallebone and Dorothy Jessie Hallebone enrolled him as a day student at the College from 7 February 1946 to December 1947. His address at the time of enrolment was 18 Orchard St, East Geelong.

In a First Class career from 1951/52 to 1955/56, the right-hand batsman scored 1192 runs at an average 41.10 runs in his 32 innings. His highest score was 202.

His brother, Graham Peter Hallebone (1944-1984), was also schooled at Geelong College.
