HEARD, Douglas Raymond (1925-2014)

'Doug' Heard (Sic Itur, 2014).

'Doug' Heard (Sic Itur, 2014).

Born at Hamilton on 4 February, 1925, the son of Leigh Bromell Heard and Helen nee McDougall, he first went to Glenthompson State School before becoming a boarder at Geelong College from 16 February, 1939 to December, 1941. After college he returned to farming in the Western District becoming a grazier. During World War II he served with the Volunteer Defence Corps from 1943 to 1945. He died on 22 July, 2014.

His brother, Ian Heard, OGC 1943, his son, Dr Leigh Heard, OGC 1969, and his grandchildren, Geoff Heard, OGC 2004, John Heard, 2006, Hannah Heard and Fraser Watson, OGC 2009, were also educated at the College.
