HENDERSON, Thomas ‘Tam’ H MC (1896-1971)


‘Tam’ Henderson, a graduate of the University of St Andrew’s, joined the College Staff as Senior Science Teacher in 1929, a position he continued to hold till his retirement in 1964. He was noted as a Physics Teacher. Between the time of his ‘retirement’ and his death, he taught part-time at Morongo and the Hermitage.

He was described in Ad Astra as a ‘friendly man with a forceful character and had a wide circle of friends both within the College community and beyond it. He was an active member of the Kelvin Club and for many years was Secretary of the Board of Management of St David’s Presbyterian Church. During World War I he served in Mesopotamia with the famous Black Watch Regiment and was awarded the Military Cross' . 'The Tam Henderson Science Laboratory' was named after him.
