HILL, Thomas Joseph ‘Tim’ (1924-1988)

'Tim' Hill, staff member, was appointed part-time Executive Officer of the OGCA in March 1981. Born in Warrnambool, to farmers Thomas William Hill and Ivy Batten nee Shoebridge, Tim first attended Warrnambool State School before boarding at Geelong College from 1935 to 1941.

Following RAAF service from 1942 to 1945 he returned to farming at Moriac until 1974. He later worked in agricultural marketing, most notably as General Manager of Continental Grain Australia. In 1982, he was also elected a Councillor of the Shire of Barrabool and served as Shire President in 1984. Over the years he served on many community committees including the Scouts, which honoured him with a life service decoration, the Buckley Progress Association, the Wandana Heights Progress Association, and, in the late 1980s, serving on the Committee of the Geelong Regional Library Service, Performing Arts Trust and the Geelong Regional Commission.

His four sons, Peter, Wayne, Richard and Geoffrey all attended the College.
