Alan Holmes was born 6 November 1935 to Mr and Mrs James T Holmes, Terang. He boarded at The Geelong College from 1949, starting Form IVA. In 1950 Alan was a member of the relay team, received the James Boyd Scholarship and completed his Intermediate Certificate. He then completed his Leaving Certificate in 1951.

Alan would go on to work in banking and retired in 1995 after more than 42 years at the National Australia Bank.

Alan passed away 26 July 2020 aged 84 years. He leaves behind wife Carmel, their two children and grandchildren.
