HOOPER, Henry Robert (1879-1951)

HOOPER, Henry Robert (1879-1951)

Local Government councillor and businessman, known as ‘Harry’, was the youngest son of Lloyd Hooper and Margaret nee Robb and attended Geelong College from 1890. Both his brothers Edwin James Lloyd (1872-1955) and Frank Lloyd Hooper (1870-1939) also attended Geelong College.

Following his death on Xmas Day, 1951, Mrs H R Hooper donated funds to the School to establish the Harry Hooper Agricultural Science Prize in his memory. This award has now become the Harry Hooper Environmental Science Prize. He was an active member of the OGCA and a member of its committee. He strongly supported the Geelong Hospital and the Agricultural and Pastoral Society. From 1926 to 1939, he was a councillor of the Geelong City Council.
