JACKMAN, Robert William (1928-2023)

JACKMAN, Robert William (1928-2023)

Coming from Dimboola, Bob boarded at the College from 1942 to 1943. He received tennis house colours in 1942. Following school, Bob studied wool classing at the Gordon Tafe and played football for North Geelong in his spare time.

He took his wool classing qualification on the road, traveling from Queensland to Tasmania, then returned to the Geelong area, jackarooing at Barunah Plains. After his father bought a property at Dadswell Bridge, Bob joined his family there to work the land.

Bob married Helen in 1953 and they have four children.

Outside of Dadswell Bridge property, Bob was involved in the local community. He joined Lodge 1956, and played tennis and lawn bowls. He was a member of the Dadswell Bridge Hall committee, tennis club, CFA, and Stawell Fire Brigade.

In the 1980s Bob and Helen moved to Horsham. There he was involved with the local lawn bowls as well as the Horsham Agricultural Society, which he served for almost four decades.
Bob passed away 28 March 2023, aged 94 years.
