JAMIESON LIPPOLD VIOLIN

JAMIESON LIPPOLD VIOLIN

Jeremy Palmer-Morgan and Bruce Jamieson, 2004.

Jeremy Palmer-Morgan and Bruce Jamieson, 2004.

This violin was crafted in 1803 by Johan Georg Lippold, a musical instrument maker of Neukirchen, Germany. The violin was donated to the School in 2004 by former Bursar and Voluntary School Historian, Mr Bruce Jamieson who requested that the violin be awarded for use by students within years 9 to 12 who, in the opinion of the Musical Director show clear potential as violinists but who do not otherwise have access to such an instrument. The violin was given to Bruce by his parents in 1935 when he was a 12 year old student at Scotch College, Melbourne. The first Geelong College student to receive the Lippold Violin was Jeremy Palmer-Morgan, Year 12, in 2004.
