John Kerr.
KERR, John Beaty (? – 1909) John Kerr first taught at the Flinders School under G F Link in 1876 where he had previously matriculated and was a teacher at the Geelong College from 1889 to 1909, Vice-Principal from 1904 and supervisor of the lower school. His nickname was ‘Joker’. While at College he continued studying at Melbourne University gaining a BA in 1896. In April 1909,
Pegasus reported that he had been ill for over six months, and was in a critical condition and the following issue reported his death in May 1909.
The Kerr Sundial was named in his memory.
