Sarah Elizabeth Leach was inducted into the OGCA Gallery of Notable Collegians in 2016. She was described by the Old Geelong Collegians' Association (OGCA): 'as a highly respected and experienced leader in the health services industry. Her contribution to the community and health and welfare services, particularly in the Barwon south-western region of Victoria, has been, and continues to be outstanding.'

Sarah has had a long association with the College as a student, as a parent, and as a member of The Geelong College School Council. She was appointed as one of the first female School Prefects in 1976. Sarah has been a Geelong College Council Director since 2004. Her roles on Council have included Chair, Risk Committee and she is currently (2016) a member of the Nominations and Governance Committees.

Sarah has been a leader in Geelong based healthcare, community and welfare sectors in a career that spans over 40 years. Her contributions have been in a variety of roles ranging from clinician, community development practitioner, executive, non-executive director and volunteer.

In the early 1980’s, Sarah collaborated with other community members in Geelong in establishing the first community based sexual assault service and women’s and family violence support services. She has continued to work as a volunteer or in professional roles supporting services to address the needs of those in our community who are most vulnerable and disadvantaged.

Sarah’s current appointment (2016) is General Manager of Health Services at GMHBA. Sarah is a member the Australian Institute of Company Directors. In 2016 Deakin University appointed Sarah an Honorary Fellow and Bethany Community Support awarded Sarah a Life Membership for community services.

Sarah has also made contributions in the following roles:

• Bethany Community Support (Board member, 1999 -2009 and Chair, 2004-2009) ;
• Barwon South West Regional Women’s Health Committee ( Chair 1996 - 1999);
• Member of the region’s inaugural sexual assault services from 1983 till 1996; and,
• Barwon Centre Against Sexual Assault (Board Member 2015 - current)
• Barwon Health Board (Director 2008-2015, 2009 - 2015 Chair of Clinical Governance & Quality)

Her more recent professional executive roles have included:
• Glastonbury Community Services Director of Research and Community Engagement (2011-2014)
• G21 Geelong Region Alliance, Director of Health and Wellbeing (2014-2015)
