LITTLEJOHNS, Reginald Woodley (1887-1975)


Reginald Littlejohns was born 9 January 1887, the son of William Henry Littlejohns and Mary Trewolla nee Glanfield. His father was teaching at Meredith State School when Reginald was enrolled at Geelong College in 1901.

During World War I, Littlejohns enlisted (No 1955) in the AIF on 20 September 1915 in 46 Battalion (3rd Reinforcement Group), embarking for France on HMAT A7 Medic on 20 May 1916, where he was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal, gazetted 17 June 1918, the citation read:
'As an Orderly Room Corporal he has at all times displayed the utmost devotion to duty, his perseverance being unique, and his work beyond praise. During operations near Ypres on 26 September and 12 October 1917 under the most trying and arduous circumstances, his work was wonderful, gaining the admiration of high authority and of all his comrades.'

Reginald Littlejohns returned to Australia on the Kashmir, embarking on 9 March 1919.
