John Mackenzie (Cricket 1905.

John Mackenzie (Cricket 1905.

John Mackenzie was enrolled as a boarder in 1901. He left in 1908.

Like his brother, Gilbert Mackenzie (1886-1907) he was a talented sportsman at College, member of both the 1st Football XVIII in 1904-1906 and Captain in 1907; and of the 1st Cricket XI in 1904-1906 and Captain in 1907. In 1908, the year School Prefects were first instituted at the School, he became the first Head Prefect. In both 1907 and 1908 he was awarded 1st prizes in Book Keeping.

His cousins, Neil Freeman (1890-1961) and Allan Freeman (1893-1964), were also educated at Geelong College.
