MADDERN, RebeccaTV presenter and journalist Rebecca Maddern has reported on many important events and entertainment occasions. Her rise as a TV personality has featured ground-breaking moments such as being the first female presenter of
The Footy Show and the 2019 Australian Open Tennis Men’s final.
After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Media Studies at RMIT, Rebecca began her media career in radio, serving in a number of newsroom roles at Triple M, Fox FM and Nova. Her move to television began when she started at the Seven Network in 2002 where she would develop her career for 14 years. In her second year of television reporting, Rebecca won a Quill Award for her coverage of the Victorian Bushfires, January 2003.
Rebecca built her career to become a regular host on marquee programs such as
Sunrise,
The Morning Show,
Sunday Night,
Seven News and special events such as the
AFL Brownlow Medal and
Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal.
In 2016, Rebecca moved to the Nine Network to co-host
The Footy Show, becoming its first female host in the show’s 26 year history. She also co-hosted the sports entertainment competition,
Australian Ninja Warrior, in addition to other sports coverage including Australian Open tennis, Cricket World Cup and The Ashes. While a regular face on the Nine Network, in 2020, Rebecca was appointed co-host of the
Weekend Today morning show with Richard Wilkins.
In 2022, Rebecca returned to the Seven Network to take up the coveted position of 6pm News Presenter.
Off the screen Rebecca and husband Trent have a daughter, Ruby, born in 2018. Rebecca also became the number 1 ticket holder of the Geelong Cats in 2011. She is also a regular MC and function host, presiding over many corporate functions, and is an ambassador for a number of charities. In 2022, she was named as the patron of Cottage by the Sea, a charity for children.
Rebecca attended The Geelong College in 1995 for her final year at school, having previously attended Morongo Presbyterian Girls College from prep to year 11. At Geelong College, she was a McArthur House Prefect and won the Australian Studies Prize.
