MILNER, Charles Ian Murray (1906-1995)


Charles Ian Murray Milner was born on 30 June 1906, the son of Charles Henry Milner and Margaret nee McIntosh. He became a day student at the College from 11 February 1920 to December 1921 and had previously attended Miss Horsley's School. His address at enrolment was Laurel Bank Parade, Geelong.

In 1932, he married Mary Helena Hamilton, the daughter of Robert Hamilton and Elizabeth Jane nee Clarke of Newstead.

During World War II, he enlisted (VX92489) on 26 May 1943 becoming a Staff Sergeant with 156th Australian Supply Depot Platoon, serving in New Guinea (June 1944-May 1945, and August-November 1945).

At the war's end, he was discharged on 18 December 1945. He died at Wantirna on 20 October 1995.

His brothers, Harry Malcom Milner (1909-2000) and Reginald Walter Milner (1903-1978) were also educated at Geelong College.
