MOCKRIDGE, John Pearce (1916-1994)

MOCKRIDGE, John Pearce (1916-1994)

Architect, John Mockridge designed the Geelong College Preparatory School. He was noted in Pegasus of December, 1959 as having 'won a limited competition for the design of new Schools of Social Sciences and Pacific Studies at the Australian National University.' John was born at Geelong on 14 May 1916, the son of Arthur Samuel Mockridge and Stella nee Pearce. He was a day student at the College from June 1922 to 1932.

One of his most notable activities when a youngster at Preparatory School was winning one of the three prizes for costumes at the Rollands' Christmas Party. His costume was that of a Red Cross Nurse. He also won the Under 10 75 yards race at the Preparatory School Sports in 1923.
