McARTHUR, John Neil (1857-1917)

McARTHUR, John Neil (1857-1917)

Pastoralist and racing enthusiast, John Neil McArthur attended Geelong College from about 1867 until 1876. His entry to the College cannot be verified as no enrolment records for the Geelong College have survived for the period 1861 to 1870. It is probably this John McArthur who is later recorded as enrolling (re-entering) on 22 April 1873 on the same day as his brother Stewart.

He was the eldest son of Peter McArthur of Meningoort, Camperdown and Margaret nee McLean. He is listed as the Captain of the College Cricket Team in 1876.
