NEW, Geoffrey Knowlton (1934-2010)

Geoffrey Knowlton New, born 22 March 1934 at Dromana, started at Geelong College as a Boarder in 1946. His brothers David (OGC 1944) and John (OGC 1949) also attended the College. Geoff lived in Gawler, South Australia for 40 years and was involved in many civic, arts, history and environmental pursuits. He was a member of the Gawler Environment and Heritage Association and, as an amateur archaeologist, unearthed relics buried around Gawler. Geoff was elected as a Gawler Councillor for Church Hill Ward 1979 to 1983. He was a foundation member of the Gawler Historical Society in 1980. His artistic activities included painting, sculpture, foundry casting, poetry, cartoons, writing and film making.

Geoff passed away 11 May 2010 aged 76 years.
