PEACOCK, John Knox (1896-1985)


John Knox Peacock was born on 18 February 1896, the son of Robert Knox Peacock and Emily Jane nee Finlay, He was enrolled as a boarder by Samuel Peacock in 1909, leaving in 1913. His address at the time was 62 Wellington Parade, East Melbourne.

During world War I, he enlisted (No 39207) on 4 April 1917, to serve with the 3rd Field Artillery Brigade and embarked for France with the Artillery Reinforcements on HMAT A15 Port Sydney on 9 November 1917. He served through the last year of the war until the time of the Armistice. He then returned to Australia, embarking on 9 July 1919.

His brother, William Knox Peacock (1898-1992), was also educated at Geelong College.
