PEACOCK, William Knox (1898-1992)
William Knox Peacock was born on 24 January 1898, the son of Robert Knox Peacock and Emily Jane nee Finlay. He was enrolled by Samuel Peacock as a boarder at Geelong College in 1908 leaving in 1914. His address at the time was Wellington Parade, East Melbourne. He later attended Melbourne Grammar School and The University of Melbourne where he completed 1st year Medicine by the time of his enlistment during World war I. He enlisted (No 64840) at the rank of Private on 7 May 1918 in the Light Horse Reinforcements, and embarked on 14 October 1918, being posted to the 4th Light Horse Regiment. He returned to Australia on 26 July 1919, and was demobilised from the AIF on 8 August.
His brother, John Knox Peacock (1896-1985) was also educated at geelong College.
