HURST, Harold Edward (1888-1972)


Harold Edward Hurst, born on 18 June 1888, was the son of Joseph Richard Hurst and Margaret Morten nee Todd. He was enrolled as a day student in 1902. His address at entry was 'Eumerella', Skene Street, Geelong.

Hurst stated that he had been in the Geelong College Cadets for 6 years when he enlisted in 5 Battalion (Public Schools Company) on 17 August 1914 at Broadmeadows, as a Private. He was discharged medically unfit due to pneumonia one month later on 30 September 1914.

His brothers, Leslie Norman Hurst (1886-1937) and Evelyn Joseph Hurst (1894-1945) were also educated at Geelong College.
