REDMOND, George McLeod (1877-1915)


George McLeod Redmond was author of the first College history Geelong College.: History, Register, and Records. Jubilee, 1911 published by Sands & McDougall, Melbourne in 1911. Born to parents Andrew Hardie McLeod and Barbara nee Grant, he first attended the School in 1891 becoming School Dux in 1894. Notably, he also won the Honour Prize for history and the Essay Prize that year as well. He was popularly known as “McLeod” or “Lecky”. He became a Federal Parliamentary reporter but was tragically killed in a car accident in 1915.
