ROBERTSON, Adam Swanston (1819-1872)


Adam Swanston Robertson was among the founders of Geelong College as a member of the committee convened to enquire into the feasibility of establishing a Presbyterian Grammar School in Geelong in April 1861 and, as a member of the first management committee of the College.

He married Elizabeth Esson, nee Ormond.

The Geelong Advertiser newspaper noted his death:
'Robertson - On the 30th September, at his residence, Rannoch House, Geelong, from syncope, Adam Swanston Robertson, of Struan, aged 59 years; deeply regretted by all who knew him. The funeral will move on Saturday, 4th instant, at 2.30 p.m., for the Eastern Cemetery.'


His sons, Lewis Robertson (1859-?), and Arthur Swanston Robertson (1861-1929), were educated at Geelong College.
