ROESZLER, Herbert Leopold (1886-1940)


Born in Melbourne on 29 October 1886, Herbert Leopold Roeszler was the son of Charles George Roeszler and Rosa Agnes nee Berwick.

He became a boarder at Geelong College on 31 July 1900. His address at the time was 37 Victorian Avenue, Albert Park. The following year he was enrolled at Scotch College, Melbourne on 30 July 1901, leaving in December 1902.

After the outbreak of World War I, he married Clara Annie Hardham at Albert Park, then enlisted (No. 14416) in the AlF as a Motor Driver on 12 July 1915. He embarked as an Acting Sergeant for France on 20 June 1916 on HMAT A54 Runic and served with the 3rd Casualty Clearing Station. He embarked for return to Australia on 21 July 1917.

After the war he became an engineer. He died at Caulfield on 2 March 1940.
