SCOTT, Robert Ochiltree (1898-1959)


Born at Ballarat on 13 December 1898, Robert Scott was the son of Dr Robert Scott and Annie Elizabeth Annie nee Ochiltree.

He was educated at Ballarat College and Geelong College, enrolling at Geelong on 8 February 1915 and leaving in December 1916. He was residing at 'Tarchadia", Sturt St, Ballarat when he was enrolled.

He had pastoral experience at Burroway Station near Narromine, NSW, before he enlisted (No. 2782) in the Australian Flying Corps (AFC) on 13 February 1918. He sailed for England with the 17th Reinforcements (No 3 Special Draft) on HMAT A7 Medic on 2 November 1918 and joined 3rd Squadron at Tarcienne, Belgium. He returned to Australia on 13 August 1919.

He re-enlisted in the Royal Australian Air Force on 7 March 1934 and served as an Aircraftman Class II until his discharge on 1 July 1940.
