SLOANE, Gordon Malcolm


Born on 8 October 1946 at Yarrawonga, the son of Ian Fyfe Sloane and Jessie Margaret, nee Roberts, Gordon Malcolm Sloane was enrolled at Geelong College from 9 February 1961 until December 1965. At College, he was enrolled as ‘Malcolm Gordon Sloane’ though most other records refer to him as ‘Gordon Malcolm Sloane’. At College, he was a member of the 1st Hockey Team and the Pegasus Committee in 1965.

Called up for National Service during the Vietnam War, he served (No. 2788420) as a Private in South Vietnam with 9th Battalion Royal Australian Regiment (RAR). He arrived in South Vietnam on 26th November 1968 and returned to Australia on 23 July 1969.

The Department of Veterans’ Affairs lists him with Vietnam Service (National Service) as a Private with the Royal Australian Infantry Corps from 26 November 1966 to 23 July 1969.
