SLOANE, John Hamilton (1926-2023)

John was enrolled at the College from 1937, starting in the Preparatory School. In 1940 he was appointed captain of the Preparatory School and also captained its cricket team. At Senior School he boarded at Warrinn and played on the 1st XI cricket team. He received house colours for cricket in 1942 and 1943. John also reached the rank of L/Cpl in the cadets.

Following school John returned Mulwala. He worked as overseer at Kilnyana where he remained for many years. He married Margie in 1951 and they have three children. His sons both attended the College, Richard (OGC 1970) and William (OGC 1973).

John passed away 23 May 2023, aged 96 years.
