SOCCER (Sport)


Soccer was first played at the School as a regular sport option in 1981 and was briefly reported that year in Pegasus.

In 1982, soccer received a formal report with the first images of the 1st Soccer XI. It then disappeared as a senior sport from the pages of Pegasus for the next 10 years.

The School entered the APS soccer competition in 1995 and the senior boys’ team entered the APS First Division competition in 1999. Girls entered the APS Soccer competition for the first time in 2004. Notable soccer players include former Socceroo, Steve Horvat. A sports trophy known as the The Geelong College Senior School Soccer Champions, donated by the Senior School Parents’ Association in the year 2000, is awarded annually to the winning House in the Senior School competition.
