STEEL, David John (1946-2019)
David John Steel, known as John, was enrolled at Geelong College in 1957 as a day student. He began in form MIV and left in 1963. John was part of the College’s hockey team First XI, in the second year of hockey at the school. He was placed in the cross country in 1960 and received House Rowing Colours for Shannon in 1963, when the Shannon crew won the House event.
John farmed on the family property “Bongongo” at Freshwater Creek. He married Vanda and they had three children who all attended the College, Simon (OGC 1996), Mandy (OGC 1998) and Sally (OGC 1998).
John passed away 29 December 2019 aged 73 in Geelong.
